Escapade - a full activity daybreak
Escapade is a premier Lapland daybreak which guarantees each family a private meeting with Father Christmas in his secret log cabin or Sami kota (a traditional wigwam-style tent made from reindeer hide). And we are heading to a special destination, in the most northerly reaches of Finnish Lapland, close to the vast snow-covered wildernesses and a million miles from the over-crowded, overcommercialised daybreak destinations favoured by some of our competitors.
Escapade takes you into a magical realm of frozen lakes, snowladen forests and vast untamed wilderness vistas. This is True Lapland and is the home of the genuine Sami people, whose ancestors traditionally followed a nomadic way of life. When we are lucky enough to discover Santa's whereabouts, each family will have an opportunity to make a private visit to talk with him in his cabin/kota. What's more, our Escapade day break offers some of the most substantial Arctic activities of any Lapland day breaks currently available.
- Private Family visit to Santa in his cabin
- Husky Sled Journey (10 - 15 mins)
- Reindeer Sleigh Ride (about 5-7 mins)
- Snowmobile Trip (about 5 mins)
- Snow Fun: tobogganing, kick-sledging, kids' snowmobiles and more.....
- Two-course lunch (plus other refreshments during the day)
- Gift for children (up to age 12)
- Thermal suit & boots (note: hats, ski gloves and scarves are essential and are not included.)
- Arctic Circle Crossing Certificate
- Souvenir Lapland Passport
- All taxes and government air passenger duty
- Return flights
A day to remember…
We fly to Enontekio airport, from where this magical day takes you deep within the winter landscape to a location in the far-flung corner of Lapland. Our all-inclusive price includes the protective warmth of a thermal suit and boots (essential in a region where the average December temperatures range between -7C and -35C) but please remember to bring additional scarves, hat and gloves.
A Winter Wonderland
Having been transported into the heart of the Lappish wilderness, you will be able to take your pick from a wide range of activities. Enjoy a sled journey, being drawn by an eager team of huskies (duration 10 to 15 minutes) and an altogether calmer reindeer sleigh trip of about 5 to 7 minutes. The day break also includes a snowmobile trip where adults get the chance to drive themselves (children pulled in a sleigh).
Exciting Snow Activities
As well as these activities, there will be time to play in the snow, giving children (and quite often their parents!) the chance to make snowmen, enjoy tobogganing, kick sledging and other snow games. A warming two-course lunch is also included.
Search for Santa
And the highlight of the day as we venture into the snow-clad woods in search of the hidden log cabin where Santa is thought to stay at this time of year. Each family will be able to enjoy a private visit to Santa, who, we are sure, will find the time to talk to each child individually about their Christmas wishes.
